The 250cc and 125cc riders take to the track in Jerez
This Monday gave a chance for the 125cc and 250cc riders to resume the preseason, testing out new bikes, teams and in some cases cylinder categories in Jerez.
The most notable aspect of the session was the presence of current 125cc World Champion Thomas Luthi, who displayed the logo of his new sponsor on his leathers alongside the customary number 1 of the title holder. Continuing his good form, the Swiss achieved the fastest time out of all the 24 riders present in the 125cc class. Another striking feature of the test was the appearance of two Spaniards in the quarter litre category. Héctor Barberá and Jorge Lorenzo had already had a chance to get on the saddle of their new Aprilias in November, and this was another opportunity to see their development. They managed times of 1.44.2 and 1.44.3 respectively. In the 125cc category, both Mattia Passini and Héctor Faubel had new machines to get acquainted with, Passini having recently joined Aprilia for 2006. He finished closest to fastest rider Luthi, with last year´s World Championship runner up Mika Kallio not featuring at Jerez. The 250cc class saw the top three times all taken by Aprilias. Alex de Angelis, Alex Debón and Roberto Locatelli all coming in under 1.46.00. Unofficial times: 250cc : 1. Alex de Angelis (Aprilia) 1'44.250About us
