Seedorf and Racing World teams join forces in 2006

Team Seedorf and the Racing World outfit have agreed to join forces for the 125cc 2006 season. Supporting them in this new venture will be Valsir, partner of the Fondital Group specialising in the plumbing and heating sector.

Both teams made their Grand Prix debut in 2003. After two seasons collaborating with Italian factory Aprilia, the two decided to change to Honda, the constructor with which they will continue in 2006.

For this new adventure, Valsir Seedorf Racing have opted for two Italian riders- Fabrizio Lai and Michele Conti. 27 year old Lai is an experienced rider who in 2005 achieved three podiums and sixth position overall in the ranks of the Racing World team.

"This season I will be part of an important Team and, most of all, I will be in a project humanly involving, too" said the Italian Rider. "I haven't had the chance yet to know Clarence (The AC Milan footballer who gives his name to the team) very well but I know the technical chief Roberto Bava, I have already worked with him in the past and we have a good feeling. I know some other team members as well and this is certainly an advantage. I have attended the World Championship for many years and I know how difficult it is to make reliable predictions at the beginning of the season. This year I expect and hope to make good results"

"I don't worry a lot about the other riders: I'm convinced that if you are fit, if you have a good bike, if you are in a loyal team and the technicians are working hard for you …the results will come out" added Lai. "I'm training hard: I expect to be ready and fit for the beginning of the season. I've already raced with Michele in the Italian Championship and the Honda Trophy. I am pleased to have an Italian team-mate… but he is still a rival".

Said teammate Michele Conti will be contesting his first full season on the world stage, after becoming European Champion last year. The 22 year old competed as a wild card and finished eleventh in the 2005 Mugello GP.

"I'm so happy to make my debut in the World Championship with a very competitive team …and with Honda, a bike that I like" said the young Italian.

"Certainly it will be a difficult year as there are the best riders here and the circuits are all new for me"
