German GP: Practice

The Re-Live section this week goes back to the German GP, the race which marked the halfway point of the season before the spring break. This Saturday we review the best of the practices, and tomorrow we will enjoy the great spectacle of the three Sachsenring races.

Nicky Hayden earned his second career pole position, his previous one aiding him on the victory trail in Laguna Seca. The American pushed Sete Gibernau down to second position, and the first day´s fastest rider Alex Barros completed the front row of the grid.

Alex de Angelis, with a time that broke the German circuit´s 250cc class lap record by nearly half a second, qualified first on the grid, heading a front row which comprised of himself, the two Spaniards Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo, and Argentine Sebas Porto.

In 125cc, Mika Kallio would add another pole to his collection, his seventh of the season. KTM´s Finnish rider would be followed by Marco Simoncelli, Thomas Luthi and Mattia Pasini, who at the time was the World Championship leader.
