Yamaha and Suzuki back to the grindstone in Qatar

Yamaha´s two MotoGP teams, along with Suzuki, decided to separate themselves from the rest of the teams to continue their preseason, by heading out to Qatar. John Hopkins and Chris Vermeulen's Suzuki will begin work in Losail on Sunday, one day ahead of Yamaha Racing´s arrival.

One of the talking points of the test will be Carlos Checa, who should make his debut with the Tech 3 team on the Dunlop-equipped M1. As James Ellison´s new teammate in Hervé Poncharal´s team, Checa finally saw a happy ending to the beginning of the year´s horror story, joining the team this week after being left out in the cold when Sito Pons´ abandoned his 2006 project.

Valentino Rossi, who tested for Ferrari in Valencia this week, will get back on two wheels as he continues his preparation with Camel Yamaha before the start of the World Championship proper.

For Team Suzuki MotoGP these three days of testing will be particularly useful, after the difficulties faced by the new GSV-R in the Sepang Test.

motogp.com will provide you with news as it happens from each of the sessions, offering you leaderboards, timesheets and also the best videos and exclusive interviews with all those taking part in the Qatar test.
