Large 125cc and 250cc presence in Catalunya

The Catalunya circuit has had little use for a gate this preseason, such is the strong showing of MotoGP teams turning up to test their bikes. After last week´s Honda tests, this Monday once again sees the Catalan track play host to 125cc and 250cc action. A large number of teams will take to the scene of March´s first Official Test of 2006 to further develop their new prototypes.

Heading the list of teams set to work in Barcelona is the jam-packed outfit of Jorge Martinez `Aspar´. His five 125cc riders for this season, in addition to Alex de Angelis in 250cc, are all present at Montmeló. Alongside them are a variety of quarter litre teams, including Fortuna Aprilia (Jorge Lorenzo and Héctor Barberá) and Honda BQR (Arturo Tizón and Martín Cárdenas, with youngster Esteve Rabat in 125cc)

Today will also be Jordi Carchano´s 2006 debut with the Stop and Go team, with which he makes the jump to 250cc. Amongst the teams undertaking their first preseason test will be AB Cardion Racing and their Czech riders Karel Abraham and Jakub Smrz. Derbi and Gilera also take their places in the boxes.

It´s not just Montmeló that will be a hub of MotoGP activity this week. Two days of testing in Valencia starts today, with the Repsol Honda and Humangest Honda teams of Sebas Porto and Andrea Dovizioso (alongside Japanese riders Shuhei Aoyama and Yuki Takahashi) all taking the trip to Cheste.
