Go West: Anthony heads to Europe

Australian Anthony West has released an official statement today detailing his latest preseason plans.

24 year old West will be putting his two stroke Aprilia through nine days of testing, in preparation for this season´s 250cc Championship.

After meeting up with his new Kiefer-BOS Racing team at their HQ in Germany on Friday, West is pencilled in for a European tour which takes in Estoril (February 15th-17th), Valencia (February 23rd-24th), Catalunya (March 1st-2nd) and Jerez (March 8th-9th)

In his statement, West described the testing schedule as the most comprehensive he had undertaken for any team since his Grand Prix debut in 1998. However, despite the large amount of work ahead, the Australian is eager to start testing.

"Firstly, it will be good to get back on a Grand Prix bike again and start working on the set-ups. I haven't met many of the people in my new team, so I'm keen to get to know them."

Whilst most of the MotoGP teams head out to the warmer tracks on the World Championship´s calendar, West sees advantages in using Portugal and Spain for testing.

"I've tested at Estoril and in Spain before at this time of the year and it can be cold and raining, but hopefully we will have good weather and get to ride plenty of laps. The track at Estoril can be slippery when it's wet."

Alongside the Australian, who achieved second last year at Donington Park as a KTM factory rider, will have German rider Dirk Heidholf as teammate for the upcoming season.
