Rain again affects the Sepang Test

Rain again affects the Sepang Test

Just like the Crowded House song, the MotoGP teams seem to be taking the weather with them during the preseason. After a surprise downpour affected various sessions in Australia, and the light rain which cut short yesterday´s first day in Sepang for many teams, once again meteorological conditions caused the teams to return to the boxes today.

At around 3pm local time a storm hit the Malaysian circuit and drew the session to a premature end. Such was the strength of the adverse weather that it flooded the pit lane and meant that riders and team members sought refuge inside. Until the spectacular storm the day had again been sunny and hot, although with less ferocity than yesterday.

Notable in his absence from the second day of testing was Casey Stoner, who wasn´t on the bike today and will also miss Thursday´s session. The Australian will fly home tomorrow to visit his trusted doctor, in order to examine the injured shoulder which caused him to retire from yesterday´s session at midday.

Yesterday´s fastest rider Marco Melandri suffered another fall today, one that had no serious repercussions. Another Honda rider, Nicky Hayden, completed a couple of laps on the Repsol Honda RC211V prototype worked on yesterday by HRC test rider Tadayuki Okada.

More information on the Sepang Test, along with all the times from the second day, will be available shortly on
