Stoner to undergo further examination in Australia

Whilst Casey Stoner will be taking part in tests this week, they are certainly not the type that he would prefer, being of the medical rather than bike development variety.

After feeling pain in his right shoulder yesterday -an injury believed to have occurred a few days ago in training- the Australian cut short his session and withdrew from the rest of the Sepang Test. His LCR Honda team today left their assigned pit garage at the Malaysian circuit after deciding to abandon their practice plans.

Yesterday, after his enforced retirement after some twenty laps, the young MotoGP rookie was taken to the local hospital for x-rays and ligament scans (the results of which are still pending). The Australian will tomorrow head to his homeland to visit his doctor and undergo more physical examination.

All signs point to ligament damage. Stoner is keen to avoid surgery which would prolong the recovery process, but there still remains the possibility that he will miss the season-opening Jerez Grand prix in just over a month.

Motogp.com has an exclusive interview with the rider, given after his decision was made to head back to Australia.
