The Aoyamas: Sibling rivalry

The Aoyamas: Sibling rivalry

The 250cc World Championship will be something of a family affair for the Aoyama household, with brothers Hiroshi and Shuhei on the grid in 2006. The elder of the two Japanese siblings, Hiroshi will ride with KTM whilst Shuhei joins Alberto Puig's Repsol Honda 250cc team.

The brothers recently moved in together in Barcelona, and motogp.com spent the day with them in their new home, getting to know their characters and quirks and discovering their ambitions ahead of the new season. In the following video we see the brothers in their new hometown and take a look at their training program.

Hiro on Shuhei

"Shuhei has an impulsive personality – he doesn't think much! But this can be a very good thing… As far as his riding is concerned, he races in a very instinctive fashion and he is very fast so I think his character is good"

Shuhei on Hiro

"My brother has a very direct character, he doesn't look around himself very much. He is also very focused – the complete opposite to my character! There are some things I need to learn from him but other things I don't want to learn from him!"
