Álvaro Bautista, convinced of success in 2006

Álvaro Bautista just can't hide his satisfaction with his new team's fortunes. The Master-MVA Aspar Team's new young gun has seen his change of team and bike paying dividends after a disappointing final season with Seedorf Racing, his team for the past three years.

"I feel comfortable with the new Aprilia" explained the rider in an interview with motogp.com. "In Jerez at the end of January I already felt at home with the previous year's bike, and here we are trying out the 2006 chassis and adapting it to my riding style" he declared, speaking at the Montmeló circuit in Catalunya after a test session.

Part of a highly talented six-rider team, Bautista relishes the competition, and believes "all of the Aspar riders have a chance to be up there, this is good because we'll have the close inter-team competition needed to ride fast. But of course there are other rivals to beat, World Champion Thomas Lüthi being the main one"

Philosophical about an inauspicious season last time around, the Spaniard has his sights set on a successful 2006.

"Last year was one to forget. Now I'm gaining confidence little by little on the bike, and this year I want to be a rider who enjoys riding again"
