Bartol lays out KTM's objectives for 2006

Harald Bartol , manager of Austrian team KTM, has given an exclusive interview to motogp.com from Montmeló. Present at the track for the first day of the MotoGP Official Test, Bartol took time out to analyse the present preseason state-of-affairs and present his goals for the 125cc and 250cc outfits.

"We want to repeat last year's results, although we hope to improve on them if we can. We would like to see Mika (Kallio) become World champion. How the other riders are coming along is somewhat unknown right now, although we will begin to tell during this test"

"Obviously our main goal is to defend the 125cc Constructors' title, but we also have to focus on the hard work ahead to reach a high level in 250cc" signalled Bartol.

"Primarily we are working on finetuning the chassis and other bike parts. The 125cc engine seems stable, although the 250cc machine needs a few improvements"

The KTM Team Manager also confirmed that Manuel Poggiali will return to the track today. The rider from San Marino is coming back from a hard fall in a crash at Estoril, an incident which saw him hospitalised in Lisbon. He rejoins the testing process alongside teammate Hiroshi Aoyama for the 250cc tests..

"We have a lot of expectation for the 250cc season, but we have to be realistic. It's only our second season in the category and nearly everything remains new for us. KTM have set goals for a three year project, with the intention of being up there with the best teams. If only we had been able to achieve it earlier" concluded Bartol.
