Lorenzo and Smrz continue to impress in Catalunya

Jorge Lorenzo, yesterday's fastest 250cc rider at the MotoGP Official Test, repeated his leaderboard-topping form in today's session. Riding round with a fastest lap of 1'46.563, the Spaniard will be hoping to continue his development onboard the Aprilia in the coming season. He was only three tenths off Dani Pedrosa's pole winning time from last season.

Weather conditions for the test showed no threat of rain and a distinct lack of wind, although some riders reported finding the track slightly cold.

Despite suffering a crash half an hour before the end of the session, Alex De Angelis was another rider to replicate his previous day's position. Coming in second with a time of 1'47.232, the Aspar team rider once again impressed at the Test.

250cc's surprise package, Czech rider Jakub Smrz continued his intriguing success at the Circuit de Catalunya. Fourth yesterday, the Cardion AB rider lay second at 4pm, and eventually improved on his final standings by finishing third with a 1'47.725 lap.

Tomorrow sees the arrival of the MotoGP premier class to the track, for three days of testing ahead of the season's culmination later this month.
