MotoGP Official Test: 250cc midday report

After their afternoon session yesterday, the teams from MotoGP's quarter litre category have until 6pm today to continue testing.

Riders took to the track at around 11am local time, hoping to improve on their times from yesterday and put more kilometres on the clocks of their 2006 bikes.

At midday, the Aprilias were again looking strong, with Alex de Angelis, Héctor Barberá and Jorge Lorenzo all amongst the top five. Roberto Locatelli racked up the fastest time as of 1pm local time, the Team Toth rider going round in 1'48.359.

Italian Andrea Dovizioso rode his Honda to third place on the leaderboard with a fastest lap of 1'48.598, only slightly slower than his 5th place-earning time from yesterday with plenty of time still remaining in the session.

Yesterday's surprise story Jakub Smrz, who came in fourth, took to the track late as the Czech looks to repeat his impressive performance. As of midday his fastest lap was 1'50.043

There have already been sightings of the MotoGP's premier class teams at the Circuit de Catalunya, with Nicky Hayden, Sete Gibernau and Marco Melandri amongst those present ahead of their Friday start.
