Gibernau rules himself out of BMW M Award

Sete Gibernau has been realistic in his comparisons of Ducati with the other teams in MotoGP's premier class, and has declared that he doesn't see himself repeating the fastest time at the Official Test won in 2005.

Today sees the test session capped off by the BMW M Award, a 40 minute competition in which the fastest rider goes home with a BMW Z4 M Roadster. Gibernau was last year's winner, but the Spanish rider admits that the team are focussing more on general fine-tuning rather than the M Award, which starts at 2.05pm local time.

"I think that right now we don't really have a chance, so it would be a mistake to concentrate on the car competition. I think being in peak condition for Jerez is of more interest to us" said Gibernau in an exclusive interview with motogp.com.
