Espargaró heads Honda riders in Jerez

Aleix Espargaró established himself as the best Honda rider in yesterday's 125cc session in Jerez. Delighted with his performance, he had an excellent session riding for Wurth Honda BQR at the track which plays host to the 2006 season curtain-raiser.

"The truth is that we had a few problems in the morning with the rear of the bike, which when fixed allowed us to put in good times in the afternoon. I managed to be the fastest on a Honda, with a respectable time, but we still have to carry on grafting" explained the Catalan rider.

"We were still working a little blindly in Montmeló, because there were still lots of things to pinpoint. We have come here with more experience with the bike, something which I think is shown in the results."

Espargaró recognises that Aprilia are also in fine form in this preseason, but is optimistic about his chances in what will be his second complete season in 125cc.

"You can see that Aprilia are strong from the preseason results, as well as KTM and Pesek for Derbi. In 2006 there are a lot of Aprilia riders and very few for Honda, but we're going to try and make the most of what we have, using our strengths to compete to the full. Lüthi won with a Honda last year, that shows that we can do it."
