D'Antin: "Success is in Dunlop's hands"

After facing the 2005 season with only one rider, Italian Roberto Rolfo, Luis D'Antin have added to their Ducati satellite squadron for the upcoming World Championship. At the recent MotoGP Official Test in Catalunya, Manager D'Antin spoke with about the new project.

What is your verdict on the work undertaken this preseason?

"There is still a little way to go before everything is finished, but that's for the weekend in Jerez. Generally speaking, I think that things are going well. We have a lot of work ahead of us, and I hope we can fine tune everything in time for the Grand Prix."

Dunlop are supplying tyres for both yours and the Yamaha Tech3 team. Has this been a positive move?

"If all the riders have the same tyres it will be a positive thing. At the moment it hasn't worked out like that, owing to the low quantity being produced. I hope that when we have the same tyres we will be capable of giving our best. It's really in Dunlop's hands. If they can take the project forward then both teams will have a good opportunity; they have two strong teams with good riders, they just have to be able to offer us the tyres that we need. To be frank, it still remains to be seen how things will turn out.

What role will the Pramac D'Antin riders play in the increasingly more competitive MotoGP category?

"We're going to see what happens throughout the year. Obviously we haven't got a title-winning project, but we have one which should grow and raise expectations. It must be better than last year and in the running for Grand Prix victories as soon as possible, and if Ducati and Dunlop can support us to the fullest then great things can be achieved."

Can you define the team's goals for 2006?

"I think that we can be happy at the least if we are fighting for top-ten finishes, that is a reasonable goal to have. After that, we will make the most of circumstances to place higher. It was only last year that we earned a podium, so now it depends on if we do a good job and have the right luck."

"We have a good bike, a Ducati GP06 satellite which is very similar to the factory machine. There are small differences but the electronics are the same. This year we will have two riders on the track, we will be a big team again and I'm sure that it's going to be fun."
