Mika Kallio…on ice!

Mika Kallio…on ice!

Mika Kallio will head into the 2006 season having already earned a title. Winning the Finnish Championship in both the 500cc and team categories in snow racing, the Red Bull KTM rider will be hoping to continue this winning form on Sunday's race in Jerez.

Kallio won the final races of the calendar to assure victory. With brother Vesa winning in 125cc, it was a family affair for the Finnish riders.

With Scandinavian temperatures extremely low, last year's 125cc runner-up has had the chance to work on his corner control and slide management, important transferable skills for his more conventional day job.

"Although this preseason has been jam-packed, with a lot of testing in Spain, I always enjoy snow racing," declared Kallio. "It is a fantastic way of practicing for me, and I hope to be able to continue the success at the MotoGP circuits!"

The Finn travelled to Spain on Monday in order to prepare for his first 125cc race of the season. Kallio finished second in the 2005 Grand Prix, and will be confident of challenging for the top spot on Sunday.
