Aprilia gather lower cylinder troops in Milan

With 16 riders in the 250cc category, and a further 19 in 125cc, Aprilia make up 70% of the grid in the lower classes. All these riders were present yesterday in Milan for a presentation by the Italian factory.

The 2006 project is a statement of intent, as the constructor looks to reassert dominance in the championship. Aprilia director Leo Francesco Mercanti reiterated the philosophy which they hope will see them on their way.

"The races are a way of life for us, a passion that is present in every activity and that transcends the Grands Prix. It is the way of undertaking work and manifests itself in the relationships that we have with our clients, who above all are experts about and passionate for the sport."

The Italian constructor presents a strong front in 250cc, with three official riders -Alex de Angelis, Jorge Lorenzo and Hector Barbera- in line for the title. Likewise, the 125cc category will see Aprilia's younger riders Mattia Pasini, Alvaro Bautista and Hector Faubel challenging for the crown.

In addition to the World Championship, Aprilia will also run in Junior GP, in collaboration with Motociclisimo Italiana. This project will be a nurturing ground for the best Italian talents.
