Lorenzo on top ahead of 250cc qualifying

Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo has taken the initiative in the final free practice for the 250cc teams in Jerez, breaking the 1'44 barrier. The Majorcan headed a quartet of Aprilia riders, with Alex de Angelis, provisional pole man Hector Barera and Anthony West.

Yuki Takahashi in fifth was the fastest Honda, but nearly nine tenths off Lorenzo. A big surprise for the official factory team was the 23rd place taken by Sebas Porto, who will be hoping for a better position in qualifying. With the weather holding out, the only crasher was Michele Danese, who has been taken to hospital.
