Rossi's run comes to an end

The first corner crash suffered by Valentino Rossi in the GP de España all but assured that the Italian would not continue his run of opening race victories.

Camel Yamaha's reigning World Champion was looking for his sixth season-opening victory, but the M1's chattering problems and the unfortunate collision with Toni Elias stacked the odds against Rossi.

The Italian MotoGP star finished 14th in the standings, the worst result experienced in any MotoGP race that he has finished. One has to go back to 2000, his debut in 500cc, to find a similar conclusion to a race when in Italy, Rossi finished 17th. The 2004 German Grand Prix was the last time that the seven times World Champion has finished a race off the podium having crossed the finishing line.

In the attached video we offer you footage from Rossi's frantic start in Jerez. Through a selection of onboard images we can see the first corner incident from a unique perspective.
