Melandri out for change

Marco Melandri left the first GP of the season very unsatisfied, despite a fifth place finish which could be considered relatively positive.

The Italian rider lamented the enormous difficulties encountered in Jerez, where he felt unable to push the RC211V to its maximum potential. On his personal website, Melandri gave his reaction to the race and his hopes for the immediate future.

"I am very disappointed, because it definitely wasn't the race of my dreams, even though the result wasn't so bad," explained the Fortuna Honda rider.

"My main worry is that we weren't able to understand the problem that impeded my riding fast in comparison with the others. I started well but my rivals overtook me quickly, and I couldn't do anything to stop them. This, for a fighter like me, is frustrating." "To even finish the race was difficult, as I had to preoccupy myself with not crashing on every corner. On Monday things went somewhat better, and I have decided to work with the 2006 bike again, as we want to resolve all the doubts and possible problems."
