Aspar riders lead Aprilia offensive

Aprilia have had a strong start to the 2006 season, one which is very important for the Italian factory as they look to regain hold of the 125cc factory title.

The Master MVA Aspar riders were undoubtedly the main Aprilia protagonists in last week's season-opener, with four riders in the top seven and two of those on the podium. Alvaro Bautista took the victory whilst Mattia Pasini qualified on pole and finished third.

It was only Lukas Pesek's Derbi and the orange bikes of the Red Bull KTM team who were able to challenge the Aspar team. Aprilia, third in last year's constructors championship and with Pasini in fourth out of the riders, have started 2006 in the top position.

Honda, who last year were ever-presents on the podium with the exception of three races, had a discreet Grand Prix in Jerez. Gabor Talmacsi earned the best result for the Japanese factory with an eight place finish.
