Criville back on the rostrum

This past weekend, Alex Crivillé ascended the top step of the podium for the first time since the 2000 Le Mans Grand Prix. This time the former 500cc World Champion was competing in the Tarrega Rally, the second race of the Catalunya Rally Championship.

The Catalan joined the world of rallying last year, when he took part in the Spanish Championship. He continues to combine his new interest with his role as assistant to Toni Elias in MotoGP.

Criville was embroiled in an exciting battle with Nani Roma during the race, another rider to recently trade in the bike for a four wheeled machine (he finished third in the Lisbon-Dakar Rally). The GP rider clocked his best scratch in the first two sections, coming in 15 seconds ahead of Roma at the day's conclusion.
