2005: Stoner on a roll in 250cc

Just seven days after winning at Sepang, Casey Stoner was back on the top step of the rostrum in 2005 after an absolutely dominant performance at the Losail circuit. His second consecutive win meant that the Australian reduced Dani Pedrosa's Championship lead to 26 points, as the Spaniard could manage only fourth.

While Stoner quickly pulled away at the start of the race, pole-sitter Jorge Lorenzo was involved in a thrilling battle for second in the early stages of the race with fellow Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso.

Lorenzo eventually managed to escape and rode a lonely second half of the race in second to take a podium finish on his comeback to the 250cc class having served a one-race ban, while Pedrosa and Dovizioso fought it out for third.

After fending off the challenge of Sebastian Porto, who moved up to fifth after a strong charge, the Spaniard and the Italian swapped positions several times, but Dovizioso managed to snatch third from the defending World Champion in a last-gasp manoeuvre before the chequered flag.

Behind Porto in fifth, Hiroshi Aoyama took sixth ahead of Honda factory colleagues Hector Barbera and Yuki Takahashi, while privateers Sylvain Guintoli and Taro Sekiguchi completed the top 10.
