Sekiguchi heads back to Japan

Japanese rider Taro Sekiguchi will leave Jerez Hospital today, where he has been kept for the last few days. Heading from Andalusia to a medical centre in Yokohama, he will undergo exploratory tests and, if necessary, surgery.

The Ticinohosting Campetella Racing rider suffered a harsh crash during free practice in Jerez, fracturing his femur. The diagnosed recovery time of around three months leave Sekiguchi's return predicted as being at Donington Park in Great Britain.

The Andalusian circuit is something of an unlucky one for the Japanese rider, who suffered a similar injury in at the same track a year earlier. Andrea Ballerini has been chosen to stand in for Sekiguchi this weekend in Qatar.
