Stoner back on top during morning free practice

Casey Stoner took the fastest time once again in the MotoGP morning session. The young Australian repeated yesterday's early performance with a lap of 1'56.329, ahead of Camel Yamaha's Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi. The top three were the only ones to break the 1'57 barrier, and all three head the overall combined classification. Toni Elias, Dani Pedrosa and Kenny Roberts Jr completed the morning's top six.

Pedrosa suffered a spectacular crash during the practice, sliding across the asphalt and onto the large Qatari run-off area without injury. Team-mate Nicky Hayden took to one wheel after a practice start, luckily pulling it back and avoiding a crash.
