Déjà vu for Lorenzo in 250cc race

Both 125cc and 250cc had a repeat showing from the Jerez Grand Prix winners, with Jorge Lorenzo taking his second quarter litre victory of the season.

The young Spaniard pipped Andrea Dovizioso to the post, with the Italian trying in vain to repeat his 2004 on-the-line overtaking manoeuvre.

Locatelli took the holeshot, with Dovizioso and Aoyama all moving up to the front three. A crash from Alex de Angelis on lap one halted his progress, as Lorenzo recovered from a poor start to move into third.

Dovizioso and Lorenzo then broke free, exchanging the lead briefly before Lorenzo took the chequered flag seven thousandths off his rival.

Roberto Locatelli ran off on lap three, but came back through the field with a phenomenal display to complete the podium.

Hector Barbera came in ahead of Hiroshi Aoyama, Sylvain Guintoli and Sebas Porto, whilst Marco Simoncelli and Yuki Takahashi snatched eighth and ninth spot on the last lap from Jakub Smrz, who was perhaps unlucky not to maintain the positions so close to the line after a steady ride.
