Sekiguchi to go under the knife again

Taro Sekiguchi has been in a Yokohama hospital since last Friday, where in a few days he will again undergo an operation to repair the fractured femur that he suffered in Jerez.

The medical team attending to the Japanese rider has recommended that Sekiguchi undergoes another operation to ensure correct recovery of the damaged bone.

"After the medical examination, next week I will be subjected to another surgical operation. I am extremely disappointed because the operation carried out in Jerez was a complete failure. The fracture isn't stabilised and at the moment I'm not recovering," declared the angry Campetella Racing rider.

"I think that it was the right decision to return to Japan, and the doctors here have told me that it will be better to operate on me again, taking out the screws and placing them correctly. I have wasted precious time over these last few weeks."

Sekiguchi will need a period of rehabilitation after surgery, but it is not expected to exceed three months. His return could be as soon as the Donington Park meeting in Great Britain.
