A glance at the MotoGP Rookies

The two big stars of 250cc in 2005, Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner have certainly made their mark on MotoGP so far this season. The Spaniard's second place in his debut Grand Prix was a spectacular start, and Stoner's pole position in Qatar rightfully earned him many plaudits.

Both have taken to the category like a duck to water, but for the other rookies the situation is a little different…..

Chris Vermeulen continues his development behind the bars of the Rizla Suzuki GSV-R. After a 12th place finish in Jerez, mechanical problems drew his Qatar race to a premature end.. Worse luck has befallen Frenchman Randy de Puniet. The Kawasaki Racing rider enjoyed success as a one of the preseason's big surprises, but a hand injury in Jerez and a first lap crash in Losail have not been good signs for the Gaul.

Jose Luis Cardoso arrives in MotoGP an experienced rider, having competed in many championships including Superbikes, but the Pramac d'Antin rider still accompanies De Puniet as the only other rider not to have earned points this year.
