Elias and de Angelis make their 100th GP start

At the Turkish Grand Prix both Toni Elias and Alex De Angelis are scheduled to make their 100th GP start.

Toni Elias made three wild-card appearances in the 125cc class in 1999 before joining the grid on a full-time basis in 2000. After a steady first season when he finished in 20th place in the final standings he achieved considerable success in 2001 with two victories and seven other podiums to place him third in the final championship classification. For 2002 he moved up to the 250cc class where he stayed for three years amassing twenty podium finishes including seven victories.

After experiencing a tough debut season in the MotoGP class last year with Yamaha, Elias moved to Honda machinery for this year and has started the campaign strongly; just missing out on the podium in Jerez and qualifying for the front row of the grid for the first time in Qatar.

Below is a statistical summary of Toni Elias' Grand Prix career following the Qatar GP:

Twenty two year old Alex De Angelis made his debut in the 125cc class at the City of Imola Grand Prix in 1999. He joined the 125cc grid as a full-time rider at the start of the 2000 season and continued in the class until moving up to ride a 250cc machine in 2004. De Angelis has finished on the podium 14 times during his Grand Prix career, but is still looking for his first victory.
