Rainfall at the Istanbul Park Circuit made it's first impression on the Saturday sessions, halting the 125cc category's second free practice with five minutes remaining on the clock. With spitting rain starting to fall as the riders took to the track at 9am local time, after 40 minutes the Turkish track was significantly damp to cause events to draw to a close.

Sergio Gadea was leading at the time that the white and red flag was waved, with a time of 2'05.933. He was ahead of Joan Olive, Alvaro Bautista, Mika Kallio, Lorenzo Zanetti and Fabrizio Lai. Bautista is on provisional pole for tomorrow's race heading into this afternoon's final qualifying session.
