CEV Buckler gets underway in Albacete

This weekend sees the start of the CEV Buckler 2006 season in Albacete. The Spanish track will play host to the opening race of a national championship which is seen as the stepping stone to the World Championship.

Alongside Spanish hopefuls such as Efren Vazquez, Pol Espargaro and Esteve Rabat, the young stars of the Red Bull MotoGP Academy will also be present for the curtain raiser. They will be looking to follow in the footsteps of 2005 graduates Mateo Tunez and Bradley Smith, who debuted this year in the 125cc World Championship. Six nationalities are represented in the CEV, including Japanese and Italian riders. Due to the high number of riders, there will be two groups for the official practices.

The CEV Buckler has a qualifying session on Saturday at 10am local time, with the 18 lap race taking place on Sunday at 12pm.
