Fortuna Aprilia team have mixed results in Turkey

Fortuna Aprilia had somewhat mixed fortunes in the Grand Prix of Turkey's 250cc race, with Hector Barbera's second place finish coming in stark contrast to Jorge Lorenzo's first lap retirement.

"I've had to wait for my first podium in 250cc, but it's finally arrived and it's a really happy moment in my career. Lorenzo's crash has left the classification wide open. The collision with De Angelis changed my plans, as I had intended to overtake everyone on the final lap. I was nearly thrown off the bike and the impact to the exhaust meant that the bike didn't work as well on the final corners," commented Barbera.

"It was a very difficult race, but at the same time it was really fun. I took a few risks, but it was my day and I couldn't let the opportunity pass. I hope that Jorge cheers up, like I had to do after the first two races,"

Lorenzo will be hoping to get back on form in China and retake the championship lead, currently held by Andrea Dovizioso.

"I didn't start too well and I tried to make up ground on the first corner, but when I started turning left I felt a hard impact and went to ground. I'm really angry, because I had the speed to win the race and add to my lead. Now I don't have a single extra point, and all my effort in Jerez and Qatar has gone to waste. I've seen the footage on TV, and to me it seems like Aoyama has entered tightly and hit me from in front. I hope to be at 100% in China and show my potential."
