Capirossi joins the 100 club

Loris Capirossi finished the Turkish Grand Prix in sixth, a result which would not have been too satisfying for Ducati due to the tyre deterioration problems suffered in the second half of the race, but allowed the Italian to reach a new milestone in his career.

The result enabled Capirossi to reach 100 Grands Prix in the premier class. The Experienced MotoGP rider joins a select group consisting of Alex Barros, Carlos Checa, Mick Doohan, Norick Abe, Alex Criville, Eddie Lawson, Randy Mamola, Max Biaggi, Sete Gibernau and Kenny Roberts Jr.

Capirossi, with 17 seasons in the World Championship under his belt, also broke another record. He is the rider who has placed in the points the second most times in any category. The Italian is on 190, close behind Alex Barros on 193.
