Hayden leads BMW M Award

For the first time since the start of the season, the BMW M Award has a new leader. Nicky Hayden's second place qualification knocks Colin Edwards, winner of the 45 minute one-off session in Catalunya during preseason, down to second in the classification as the MotoGP riders look to put in consistently fast times for the end of season prize. Chris Vermeulen's pole takes him up to third.

Vermeulen trails Edwards by less than two seconds, whilst Hayden sits at the top of the tree by over a second and a half, adding to his current leadership of the World Championship. He is the only Michelin rider in the top five amidst a sea of Bridgestone riders.

Despite qualifying low down the grid, Valentino Rossi occupies fourth place in the quest for the new BMW.
