CEV Buckler gets underway in Albacete

The Albacete Circuit yesterday played host to the first race of the CEV Buckler 2006 season, in which David Salom, David De Gea and Pol Espargaró were crowned the first victors of the season in the Supersport, Formula Extreme and 125cc categories respectively.

Fine Spring weather allowed fans to enjoy the competition in comfort at the Spanish track, where they saw Espargaró- younger brother of Honda BQR's Aleix, win the 125cc race by a considerable margin. Second place went to Kev Coghlan, pole-man and Red Bull MotoGP Academy rider. The young Briton was involved in an exciting battle with Ricard Cardus, who completed the podium.

The other Academy riders had strong showings, with three placing in the top ten. Alongside Coghlan, Englishman Daniel Webb finished sixth whilst Takaaki Nakagami was eighth in his CEV Buckler debut.

Spaniard Isaac was unable to participate in the race, due to his age. The 12 year old is expecting the all-clear from the Federation to participate in the second race of the season in Jerez on June 11th
