The three riders finishing on the podium in Turkey are all part of the new wave of young riders competing in the MotoGP class. The average age of the three riders on race day was 23 years old, making this the third youngest podium of all time in the premier-class. The youngest ever podium was the French GP of 1976 won by 25 year old Barry Sheene who was followed home by two riders making their first appearance on a premier-class podium: 20 year old Johnny Cecotto and 21 year old Marco Lucchinelli.
