Guintoli test-rides for Tech 3

Sylvain Guintoli is set to participate in a testing session for Tech 3 Yamaha alongside official riders Carlos Checa and James Ellison. The first practice for the Frenchman with the team will take place today at the Bugatti Circuit, scene of yesterday's Alice Grand Prix of France.

Guintoli will again test onboard the M1 after the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello on June 15th, and again on the 21st and 22nd of August in Brno after the Czech round of the World Championship.

Herve Poncharal, Tech 3 Yamaha's Team Manager, explained that Guintoli's incorporation into the team will allow them to accelerate the development process of their Dunlop tyres.

"We are really happy to be able to develop the tyres more quickly," said Poncharal. "A rider has arrived whom, alongside Carlos Checa and James Ellison, will be a key aid in optimising the potential of the Dunlops."

"We are particularly happy to be working with Sylvain Guintoli, who was our test rider in 2002," continued the Frenchman. "We are convinced that he can help us with our progression and that he can soon form a valuable part of our team alongside the title riders."

"This collaboration would not have taken place if it hadn't have been for the understanding of Claude Michy and all at the Grand Prix de France team, who allowed their rider to participate in our programme. We are very grateful to them."

Guintoli thanked both parties for allowing him to play a part in the premier class World Championship.

"It is a real honour for me to have been chosen by Tech 3 Yamaha for these tests," declared the French rider. "I am absolutely delighted to participate, it is my first time around MotoGP and it is fantastic! The 2002 tests were on the 500cc bike, so it's a new step for me. I want to express my gratitude to both Yamaha Tech 3 and the Grand Prix de France Team for everything."
