Rossi's worst run for six years

Rossi's worst run for six years

Valentino Rossi, dominator of every category that he has competed in recent years, has a fine collection of consecutive records. Number of victories in a season, titles in a row…all testament to the Italian's imposition on the World Championship.

However, 2006 has seen something of a turnaround in fortunes for The Doctor, with a series of setbacks and incidents of misfortune affecting his results. Of the five races to have been and gone this season Rossi has only racked up one victory, and in the last two he has failed to even finish, due to a front tyre problem in China and the M1's mystery illness in Le Mans.

MotoGP's biggest star has been off the podium for three races, unheard of for the Camel Yamaha rider. It is only the second time that Rossi has been the protagonist of such an unwanted run, the previous occasion being his 2000 debut season when he was out of the points in the first two races and finished 11th in Japan. Following this, Rossi earned his first podium place when he came in third in the Spanish Grand Prix.

In the following video we review Rossi's most recent MotoGP races, in which he has missed out on the podium and, in the case of Le Mans, almost certain victory.
