On Monday the opening ceremony of the new built media centre at the Sachsenring circuit took place. Many representatives from economy and the state of Saxony were present at the event, held in the 686 m² journalists room, where journalists from all over the world will be able to carry out their work during the Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, on July 16th.

Erich Homilius, mayor of Hohenstein-Ernstthal, opened the ceremony in front of many guests including Mr. Koehler-Totzki (chairman of ADAC Sachsen), Mr. Pape (managing director of ADAC Sachsen), Dr. Rohde (ministry of economics), Prof. Bolick and Mr. Gerlach (representatives of the parliament of saxony) and delivered the keys of the media centre to Wolfgang Streubel, master of the works and mayor of Gersdorf, and Ruben Zeltner, managing director of the road safety centre – the profession of the Sachsenring when there is no Grand Prix taking place.

The new media centre has a footpoint of 2440 m² with the absolute use of 1001 m². The journalists room has space for 300 journalists, and 95 monitors are installed. The press conference room has 54 seats and a stage for photographers and measures 110 m². Under the building, partially built on pillars, is parking space for 30 cars and 30 scooters.

All in all the costs went up to 2,42 million euros and has been promoted with 90% by the state of Saxony and also the ADAC Sachsen did give a huge support to the amount.

More improvements for the facilities and safety of the Sachsenring circuit are planned prior the Grand Prix that will take place from 14th to 16th of July.
