Interesting facts before the 250cc race

· Jorge Lorenzo, who scored his first 250cc podium last year at Mugello, will be starting from pole for the fourth time in 2006.

· Yuki Takahashi has equalled his best ever grid position, which he achieved at the opening race of the year at Jerez.

· Roberto Locatelli, who has won the 125cc GP on three occasions at Mugello, will be starting from the front row for the second time in 2006.

· Alex de Angelis will be aiming to score his first podium since the opening race of the year at Jerez.

· Andrea Dovizioso is the only rider in all three classes to have finished on the podium at the first five Grand Prix events of 2006. Dovizioso has not had a podium finish from his four previous appearances at Mugello.

· Marco Simoncelli's sixth place on the grid is his best qualifying result since he moved to the 250cc class at the start of 2006.

Hector Barbera will be starting from his lowest grid position since the Qatar GP last year.
