Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya presented in Barcelona

The Port Forum was yesterday the setting for the official presentation of the GP Cinzano de Catalunya, attended by numerous members of race organisation and a few local riders who will take to the track next Sunday.

The Cataluya Circuit has been subject to a number of improvements in facilities this year, including easier access for the thousands of fans who flock to the track every season. Throughout the track a total of 20 videoscreens have also been placed to allow spectators a view of all the on-track action.

More than 105.000 fans watched the 2005 race in the flesh, a record attendance figure. Although Friday sees the start of the first practice sessions, all who have purchased a three-day ticket will be able to visit the track on the Thursday.

Toni Elias was the MotoGP representative at the presentation, and told motogp.com that "to ride at home in front of the fans gives me a lot of motivation. The first three races of 2006 went well for me, but in the last few we have had some problems. We're working hard to find solutions and fight for the top places."

Jorge Lorenzo, Aleix Espargaro and Joan Olive were the other home riders present at the event.
