Heidolf confident of Sachsenring comeback

On the road to recovery after fracturing his right hand scaphoid in a private test in Sachsenring last month, German rider Dirk Heidolf is confident of making his comeback at the scene of his misfortune for his home Grand Prix. Speaking to's German correspondent whilst recuperating, Heidolf revealed that he has already commenced training with the hope of being in peak condition for his return, although his doctor has urged him to be patient and allow complete recovery.

The precise date that the Kiefer BOS rider will be back on the track will almost certainly be the Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland on July 16th, the outside chance of a return in time for the GAS British Grand Prix at Donington Park having now been completely ruled out.

A scaphoid fracture normally requires up to 12 weeks to heal, whilst in Heidholf's case this figure has been reduced to 6-8 weeks. 20 year old Franz Aschenbrenner made his 250cc debut in Mugello whilst stepping in for his countryman, and will continue in the Kiefer BOS ranks this weekend in Catalunya and for the races in Holland and Great Britain.
