Bautista takes victory to top all-Spanish top four

Alvaro Bautista took victory in a phenomenal day for the Master MVA Aspar team and their Spanish contingent at the Circuit de Catalunya. Runaway 125cc championship leader Bautista's win came after a studious ride from pole, edging out countrymen Hector Faubel and Sergio Gadea and Italian Mattia Pasini in an all-Aspar top four.

Czech rider Lukas Pesek and reigning 125cc World Champion Thomas Luthi completed the top six behind the Spanish outfit's quartet, with Pablo Nieto seventh after taking an early lead from the front row. Gabor Talmacsi Joan Olive and Fabrizio Lai rounded off the first ten over the line. The front pack put on a masterclass in breaking and overtaking, before an end of race push saw the top two distance themselves from their persuers.

With Mika Kallio unable to finish the race, Bautista's win increases his advantage in the title race to 56 points, with Faubel and Gadea just one point off the Finn. Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya
