Cardenas drafted in as Repsol Honda rider

In 250cc, the Repsol Honda Team have announced their replacement for retired rider Sebas Porto. The team have opted for Colombian Martin Cardenas, who until now has been riding Honda BQR in the category.

This in turn has seen Cardenas' place occupied by Aleix Espargaro, promoted from the 125cc team, whilst Esteve Rabat completes the reshuffle by joining the lower cylinder category.

"This is the greatest opportunity of my sporting career, and to tell the truth I am still a bit surprised," confessed Cardenas. "Now I have to make the most of the opportunity and reward the confidence that Repsol, Alberto Puig and the team have placed in me. I rode at Assen last year, so I know the circuit.

It is a different track to those at which I have raced before. It is very fast and difficult. The Winter changes are to our benefit, it will level the playing field of learning the new track."
