Gibernau: "I won't even watch the crash on television"

Sete Gibernau was in front of the cameras for his first appearance since the jawdropping first corner crash at Catalunya last Sunday. The Spanish rider, still in hospital after being operated on this past Monday, accepted that the fractured collarbone will seriously affect his season but noted that the consequences could have been much worse.

"Luckily I haven't, nor do I intend, to watch the incident on television. I think that it is better that way. It was something that happens in races, and we have to say that we have been lucky to have come away with only a fractured collarbone," commented the Spaniard.

The doctors overseeing the operation, Xavier Mir and Ignacio Ginebreda, reviewed the difficulties that they encountered whilst replacing a metal plate from a previous injury, and also the estimated return time for Ducati Marlboro's Spanish star.
