Michel Fabrizio to stand in for Elias

Michel Fabrizio has been chosen by Fortuna Honda to replace Toni Elias at the GAS British Grand Prix this weekend, with the Spaniard forced out of action with a shoulder injury.

The Italian rider returns to the premier class after an extended absence. He debuted in the World Championship in 2002 with Gilera in 125cc, and two seasons ago became the youngest Italian MotoGP points scorer for WCM.

Fabrizio won the 2003 Superstock Championship, and in 2006 takes part in his first World Superbikes season with the DFXTreme outfit.

After six races, the 21 year old lies in 12th in the classification, and in his MotoGP comeback he will line up alongside a Marco Melandri in much better condition than last weekend.
