Pedrosa's remarkable rookie season

Dani Pedrosa is not only the best performing rookie of the season, but has also entered onto the list of best ever rookies in MotoGP history. The Repsol Honda rider's win last Sunday at Donington Park was number 25 of his career, equalling the number of victories of Kevin Schwantz.

With two premier class triumphs to his name, Pedrosa has already equalled Valentino Rossi's 500cc debut season results, The Italian took ten podiums back in 2000, whilst the 2006 newcomer has five with half the season still remaining.

The Spaniard's vital statistics also puts him ahead of one of the most famous "debut season stars": Max Biaggi. Pedrosa nearly equalled Biaggi's debut race win achievement, earned in the 1998 Japanese Grand Prix, when he took second at this season's curtain raiser in Jerez. His current total of 127 points puts him just one point behind the Roman Emperor's tally after his first nine races.
