Germany 2005: Pedrosa maintains the advantage

Dani Pedrosa consolidated his 250cc Championship lead at Sachsenring last year by taking his fifth win of the season, delivering a flawless performance after an early clash with Jorge Lorenzo.

At the start, Lorenzo grabbed the holeshot ahead of Hiroshi Aoyama and Pedrosa, but moved back to third on the fourth lap. The Fortuna Honda rider crashed out after badly timing a move on Pedrosa – the two Spaniards nearly touched and Pedrosa had his left exhaust pipe damaged in the incident.

However, Pedrosa was able to fight back to take the lead on lap 12 and quickly escaped ahead of pole-setter Alex de Angelis. The San Marinese secured his third podium finish of the season ahead of Aoyama, who emerged victor from a late three-way dice for third ahead of Andrea Dovizioso and Sebastian Porto.

Frenchman Randy de Puniet took seventh ahead of Casey Stoner and Hector Barbera. Yuki Takahashi recovered from an early off-track excursion, which saw him dead last at the end of the first lap, to take ninth. KTM's Anthony West completed the top 10.
