Valentino Rossi set to become first to pass 3000 point milestone

Following his second place at Donington, Valentino Rossi has now scored a total of 2977 points in all classes during his Grand Prix career. If he wins the race in Germany he will become the first rider ever to pass the milestone of 3000 career points in GP racing.

The following list shows the ten riders who have scored most points in the 57-year history of GP racing. (Note: modern-day competitors are at an advantage due to the current point scoring system allocating more points to the leading riders).
